Maggie L. Anderson

Maggie L. Anderson is the managing attorney at The Law Office of Maggie L. Anderson, LLC In Kansas City, Missouri.  She focuses her practice exclusively on the area of family law and has extensive experience in both litigating and negotiating complex family law matters such as divorce, paternity, child support, adoption, guardianship, and cohabitation issues. 

Maggie has spoken on topics concerning the welfare of children in custody proceedings and complex divorce and litigation. Maggie has written articles for, and had her work published with The American Bar Association, The Urban Lawyer, a National Quarterly on State and Local government.  She is an active member of the Domestic Law Committee of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and the Johnson County Family Law American Inn of Court, and currently serves as Chair of the Alimony and Spousal Support Committee of the American Bar Association Section of Family Law.

Maggie has been selected as a Top Rated Family Law Attorney in Kansas City, Missouri by Super Lawyers each year since 2014.  Maggie is also involved in public service, serving on the board of directors of Sheffield Place, a treatment and transitional living center for women and children in Kansas City, and working with victims of abuse on a pro bono basis through this organization. 

Maggie graduated with honors from the University of Missouri – Kansas City, earning her J.D. with an emphasis in Family Law in 2008, and from Iowa State University, earning a B.S. degree in both Sociology and Psychology in 2005. She is admitted to practice law in both Missouri and Kansas.

Prior to opening her own practice, Maggie was a Senior Associate Attorney with The Reynolds Law Firm, LLC, focusing her practice primarily on family law.  Before that, she worked as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Edith L. Messina, the first female judge to take the bench at the 16th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri, Kansas City.

Kayla M. Kratofil - Associate Attorney

Kayla M. Kratofil joined The Law Office of Maggie L. Anderson, LLC, as an associate attorney in January 2021. Prior to beginning her practice, Kayla served as a Judicial Law Clerk for Commissioner Sherrill L. Rosen of the 16th Judicial Circuit for more than three years, dealing exclusively with domestic cases, such as divorce, custody, and child support actions, in Eastern Jackson County.

Kayla is from Kansas City and returned to the University of Missouri – Kansas City for her J.D. after completing her undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Justice Systems at Truman State University. During law school, she received a Family Law emphasis and was active in the Child and Family Services clinic as both a Rule 13 Student Attorney and the Student Assistant. Kayla completed an internship with the Jackson County Family Court serving as an attorney for the Juvenile Officer and prosecuting child abuse and neglect cases.

Kayla is a member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association and Eastern Jackson County Bar Association. Kayla has previously served as the Senior Assistant Director for the Kansas City Youth Court, a diversion program from the Jackson County Family Court, and is presently a member of the Board of Directors, working closely with other attorneys and judges in the area managing the program.
